EuroCore FAQ

- Q. What are the requirements for joining
EuroCore or ShadowCore?
A. We don't have many requirements for joining the group. However we do
request the following:
- All members must abide by our community involvement
policies. Full details of these can be found below.
EuroCore SuperGroup on Victory Server is a group consisting
mostly of people living in Europe (GMT or GMT+1 timezones). While we
normally only accept people actually living in these timezones, our strict
requirement is that you play during the sorts of hours that someone in
these timezones would. So, if you are in a different timezone but still
play mostly during peak hours in Europe, we are happy for you to join us.
What do we mean by Euro peak hours? Well, if you normally log-on between
6-11pm GMT, 1-6pm EST, 12-5pm CST and 10-3pm PST, you're playing during
Euro times.
EuroCore is primarily an English-speaking group, so you
should be able to speak at least some English to join (we don't mind how
good or bad it is as long as you can get the message across!). While we
welcome speakers of any language, and many of our members do speak a
different language as their mother tongue, all SuperGroup chatter is
conducted in English and you would normally be expected to speak English in
team chat.
- Q. Is there a minimum age for joining
EuroCore?
A. No, we do not operate a strict 18+ policy like many groups, however
we are a group of mature gamers and expect our members to behave in such a
manner. The average age of the group as a whole is probably late twenties -
early thirties.
- Q. I am the leader of another
SuperGroup/Villain Group on Victory - can I form a coalition with you?
A. Please contact one of the leaders in game to discuss this with
them.
- Q. What is the structure of the SuperGroup and
how many are there?
A. SuperGroups in City of Heroes are limited to 75 characters. As a
large and popular community, this limit means that we currently run 6
groups, who communicate with each other using a single Global Chat channel.
We have three hero groups, EuroCore, EuroCore II and EuroCore III and three
Villain Groups, ShadowCore, ShadowCore II and ShadowCore III. The structure
is set up as below. Our goal is to maintain a very active group, and for
that reason we have time limits on how long your character may be offline,
which varies according to which group they are part of. If a character is
offline too long, we will remove it without warning to provide a spot for a
character that is active. If your character is removed, this doesn't mean
you are not welcome! We realise some people take breaks from the game and
you may rejoin us at any time.

- Q. Who runs the SG? What are the different
member ranks?
A. EuroCore is not a dictatorship! We aim to treat each member equally
no matter how long they have been here. However in any SuperGroup there are
5 ranks and we have a number of officers who perform certain roles.
For a current list of Leaders and officers, see the the EuroCore Roster.
| Member Rank Structure |
| EuroCore |
ShadowCore |
Role |
| Fearless Leader |
Fearsome Leader |
These are the leaders of the SuperGroup / Villian Group. They have
taken on the responsibility of leading the group and have a very active
role in decision making and everyday running of EuroCore / ShadowCore.
|
| Base Engineer |
Dark Architect |
These are roles granted to a limited number of officers to assist with
responsibility for designing/maintaining and crafting base items. |
| Gladiator |
Warlord |
Another role granted to a limited number of officers to take on
responsibility for organizing Items of Power raids, defence against base
raids and other PvP tactics. |
| Field Officer |
Shadow Agent |
These players (we maintain a number of ten officers) have the role of
recruiting new players, acting as a point of contact for people who wish
to join and assisting the leaders with decision making and the running of
the group.
|
| EuroCore Hero |
Cannon Fodder |
The majority of members are this rank. Their responsibilities are to
uphold the values of the SuperGroup, and most importantly, to have fun (be
it setting fire to tramps in Mercy Island or escorting pedestrians across
the road in Atlas Park)! |
- Q. What base facilities do you have?
A. All six of our groups have fully powered medical facilities. The main
groups also are fully equipped with teleporters and crafting facilities.
The bases are growing all the time.
- Q. What is prestige and do I have to earn it
for the group?
A. Prestige is the currency required for base building. It is only
acquired by defeating villains in SuperGroup mode (wearing your SG
costume). This comes at a penalty to the influence/infamy you earn which is
required for purchasing enhancements. We do not make people run in SG mode
all the time although ask that they do as often as possible. For heroes we
are always happy to donate influence from high level characters in the
SuperGroup whom accumulated a lot before the prestige system was
introduced. To slip into your SG costume just go to the options and
settings tab in the SuperGroup window. You can set it so that appears
exactly as your normal costume.
- Q. Once I am in EuroCore will you powerlevel
me?
A. No, if you want to be powerlevelled you are in the wrong group. EuroCore
does not encourage powerlevelling (although if you want to do it we won't stop
you). Please do not make PL requests or make general PL chit chat in any SG chat
channel. Please respect that this is the majority view of the group. However,
if you are looking to reach a certain level (maybe you want to join in with a
scheduled TF or can't wait to get to a certain level for a new power) we will
be happy to help you sort out some action on teams which will give good XP
with everyone fighting and joining in!
- Q. How do I get my picture on the home
page?
A. The homepage randomly selects a hero or villain from the website's
album. To appear on the front page you will need to
upload an image to the 'EuroCore Members' category of the album. The image must
be no larger than 250px x 250px and please name it correctly with your hero or
villain name, and which SuperGroup they are in (EuroCore or ShadowCore!).
Please be aware that any images uploaded which do not meet these requirements
will be removed.
- Q. Do you have groups on any other
server?
A. No we are a Victory only SuperGroup/Villain Group. We very occasionally
may set up a role play group on another server for a specific theme due to
limited slots on Victory.
- Q. What if I have a grievance with another
member?
A. From time to time disagreements do occur. We would encourage you to
discuss it directly with the person whom has upset you in the first
instance, but always feel free to report it to one of the leaders who will
look into the situation and try to help.
- Q. What about profanity?
A. Profanity is generally considered insulting, rude or vulgar.
The extent to which a profanity is considered to be in some way disagreeable or objectionable depends on context,
timing and various other factors. However, the use of certain profanities at certain times, especially in a public
setting, will always be considered inappropriate or in bad taste, if not clearly abusive, obscene or offensive.
At other times the use of certain profanities will be considered mild or acceptable, and may take less recognizable
forms. EuroCore strongly discourage the usage of any form of profanity. This applies to our forum, online chat,
and any public channel (broadcast, local, other GC, etc). We won't tollerate profanity used in a bad way!
